Island Animal Rights! Bon Ton's founder and owner also runs The Langkawi Animal Shelter and Sanctuary Foundation (LASSie), set-up to receive, rehabilitate and care for neglected, abused and needy animals. The Sanctuary has a no-kill policy and cares for animals whose age, disposition or disability makes them unlikely to find homes. Many of the animals are road accident or trauma cases and therefore need special love and attention. The organisation also runs the Langkawi Island Animal Clinic. Both are non-profit ventures, staffed by volunteers and aimed at improving the lives of unwanted animals. Guests at Bon Ton can also take part in LASSie's activities.

 We work closely with the management and staff at the resort. We are supported by the Malaysia Tourism Board in our ecotourism initiatives to ensure that tourism in the area is sensitive to local, cultural and environmental needs. It is a delicate balance for a special place and one we look at seriously from an ethical stance. This is our commitment under our Fair Trade for Tourism policy.
