Next up, 45-minute speedboat ride deeper into the ancient Pelagus Rainforest, home to the once ferocious Head Hunters tribes. As your boat wades through the river, flanked on both sides of the riverbanks, Long Houses lay snug in the grasp of nature. Nestled amongst the river rapids, created according to legend by the great serpent-spirit Nabau, you arrive at an auspicious Long House, the Regency Pelagus Resort. You will be greeted with a warm welcome ceremony. This tribal inspired resort thrown off the beaten track reflects a classic Iban wooden Longhouse style and is run proudly by Iban tribesmen.

  • To top it all off, enjoy the dramatic evening storytelling sessions. Discover the mystic marvels surrounding this unique experience destination told by the direct descendants of the notorious Head Hunters of Borneo.

Day 6-7:

After breakfast we take an overland trip by private transport to Sepilok. Check into the world-renowned Sepilok Nature Resort where you come face-to-face with Orang-utans. The resort offers all the comforts and amenities needed after a day spent trekking in the forest: all the timber chalets sit by a beautiful lake with en-suite bathrooms, ceiling fans and air-conditioning. Meals are served in the central building under covered terraces, and it is not uncommon to wake up in the morning with an Orang-utan or a few pig-tail Macaques sitting on the verandah.

Mabul Island is a stepping stone to the world famous dive site of Sipadan, a 600 metre limestone pinnacle that grows out of the seafloor. Sipadan is currently closed for "natural renovation of the coral reefs" but can still be visited by divers by day.
